Had a few spare moments today and did a bit of easter art...fabric image from a post card...vintage lace...felt...glass glitter and vintage rhinestones from antique jewelry...




AND....DRUM ROLL PUHLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE...as promised direct from the candy aisle at walmart...(goodness knows i probably have broken all these no photos please rules...) I give you LAVENDER LUCIOUSNESS!!!!!!!

Your artwork has been selected for a special....

miss maddysen did a piece of artwork entitled TORN FALL TREE... and it was selected to be in an exhibit at the Administration building!!!! We received the announcement today! Her art piece will be on exhibit for the month of March!!! She is sooo excited...her little face was filled with proud!

they are having light refreshments and musical entertainment for the event this sunday!!! I will take some pictures at the exhibit and post them later!!!

so i went out today....

first stop was WAL-MART...they had their easter candy section set up...and all i can say...is....................

I HAVE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN!!!

they have their candy displayed BY COLOR!!! the first section in the aisle..is all

LAVENDER CANDY!!!!!! oh oh oh...i wish i would have had my camera...pictures will arrive here the next time i visit! lavender jelly beans, m&m's, chocolate...even the easter grass is lavender!!! (the grass is also EDIBLE!!!) and PURPLE PEEPS! (love to see what sweet peggy would do with THOSE! FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW go check out her blog and scroll down a bit what she did with her peeps!) ...OH OH OH...I'M GIDDY WITH GLEE!

if you get the chance go visit..as you will know in spirit i'm right there with you sharing the glory of it all!

they also have everything i mentioned and LOTS MORE....in every color of the rainbow! all neatly displayed to shop by color!!!!

...doesn't take much to make me happy! and lavender is a great place to start!!!

well it IS almost thursday morning...lol

a good evening to you...its 11:35 pm...
said i wasn't going to post til tommorrow but kept working on my pink nest (recall pics from previous post) and it totally took on a persona all it's own! my sweet muse was working with me...i got soo much done today...(yeah dance class...lol two hours waiting for maddysen...total art time...got all my things to work on hand work...ready to go...and got it all done!!)








made a bit bigger birdie..for this nest...embellished her with a vintage crystal multi stone earring for a bonnet...over a bit of feather boa...(also added a bit of boa for her tail) some vintage crocheted lace for wings a bit of satin ribbon for a neck piece. the nest is actually crocheted 24 gauge gold wire that i wove vintage crocheted laces thru with some rose sheer fabric...i used the same twig like wire for the top handle but bent it into a heart shape and added some paper florals in green and soft pink... the little diva birdie sits atop a pillow of the palest pink pearls...she is VERY SPOILED! the pictures just don't do her justice...and she KNOWS IT! lol...

tonite sirr xander came to stay...as his daddy had to work and danielle also...and usually his grandma watches him but she is on 24 hour duty...well guess what...the boy has blue hair! Looks a bit like he's ready for easter!


it's only hair...and he does look cute...lol

tommorrow morning kaleigh is off to seattle for the weekend! she is going with two of her friends...to visit a high school friend that moved there and also my brother the painter...who you may remember from a bit back...(he also helps design massive bridges and roads and railways...lol...don't know where the painter thing came in...but he's really good...

well til next time...(almost finished with my art doll...she took on a whole new persona too! and got the base for my fairy shoes done too...and two more birdies that i'm going to create a couple of make-do's out of...STAY TUNED...as one of these next days i'm going to give one away! NESTING...

good morning!!!

tweet tidings to all! sooo corny i know...BUT THE SUN IS SHINING AND I'M ALL GIDDY! i sooo think all the doldrum days is soooo depressing! NEED SUN! We got rain the other day...flooded many streets in our area...then froze...the sewer drains are blocked by snow...since there is sooo much of it...the snow banks have migrated into the streets 3' plus in some areas which makes for very narrow streets! The snow has frozen to a crisp crunchie..nearly impossible to move, ice... then compound that with a car parked on both sides...and some streets are near impassible...don't know why some people would park directly across from another vehicle...knowing how big some cars/trucks are now... anyway...

i was busy yesterday...making my first nest for Heather's nest swap...




I created the entire nest including the birdies...i began with crocheting a white nest from vintage bias strips then wound twisted tulle in shades of green and blue around the outside of the crocheted basket/nest...i tacked it into place in several areas...then i added bark wire top handle and limb for mama bird to sit on.....(it is wire covered in a dark brown paper that looks like a tree branch!) i stitched the birds into place. (birdies are my own pattern) then i wrapped the handle with wire embellished with green flowers and added some additional tulle and tiny blue flowers! Then i coated the interior white nest strips with glue and added white glass glitter to sparkle up the nursery! (i also added a bit to the top handle for a late snow glisten... I like the way it turned out!

I have the second nest all ready to begin today...it is different in material...as the second one i crocheted from gold wire...including the eggs! the wire actually took off the color finish on the crochet hook...here is the beginning...



i wove all kinds of vintage lace and sheers into the wire...and need to still secure them into place and decide what kind of birdie would nest here!

Also worked on a 1-2-3...piece of art...we are having a swap over at altered art swap for a set of these...sized at 3"-2"_1"...they look just sooo sweet framed as a set! I was inspired by Sandee, who did a set of these and posted them on her blog...THEN SHE RAK'd me with a set!!!!
these little sets are very addictive...and go together quickly!
which did come first...the chicken or the egg? hee hee

i found this old book...with this title...and thought it would be a good base for an art collage...

i added a wired branch across the bottom of the piece and crocheted a nest that i balanced between two branches like a pocket to hold the baby bird and scattered green upholstery leaves about the whole piece...



I added a bit of glass rosary beads with an antique 12kt. gold cross attached



and this german scrap mommy bird checking out the new member of her family living in her nest! (the white spots are glare from my camera..)



i added some vintage plastic flowers from a vintage pair of earrings...(yes all the blue flowers were on one pair of very blue earrings! Came with a matching necklace too! tons of blue! and also some vintage heavy lace...

such a short time

element between st. patty's and easter this year...had to put up a new banner for a tiny while...added it to bouquet i've grown already!!!! and it's green!!! not much of that out the window of late...and not in the near future...lol...read on...

no, nO, NO!!!!

now isn't it pretty...tiny crystals of ice reflecting the grandeur of the day...



DID YOU HEAR ME SAY NO!!!? Radio went off this morning and the news was on....weather to be exact...i was still in a bit of delirium...(half awake...half still in that dream...(( oh and that's for another post...lol))guy on the radio talking about the deep freeze for tonite...in the deeep negatives...AGAIN...thinking of a warm blanket...then he kept on..."and sunday we are watching a storm movement into the area that will dump...6-13" of new snow...(never heard of a storm dumping OLD snow...) okay had enough...now...last year we had 33" of snow for the whole season...right now we are at 72"! approaching to bust all records here...depends on what gets DUMPED...





it's a good thing that we had a warm 45 degree couple of days...that melted like 12" of the early season snow...as i don't know where we will go with what's coming! i've seen dump trucks hauling it away to some fields near the edge of town...the piles in the parking lots are taller than a two story building!

Well one kind of positive perspective is that in june and july...the kids will have snow to play on! those huge piles will still be there steaming away in the lots...on the playgrounds...could become a tourist attraction!
LOL LOL....

early this week i received my sweet treats recipe book... a massive undertaking by sweet KARLA and BETH . Each cover to this book was HANDMADE (there were OVER 40 BOOKS TO DO!)..and goodness my cover was LAVENDER...oh oh oh my...the art work in the entire book would blow you away...(and that's not even the recipes! you'd gain at minimum 25lbs just LOOKING!) THANK YOU KARLA AND SWEET BETH!!!!

THEN tucked in the same package....was this scrumptious necklace that Karla made for ME!!! (ALSO LAVENDER IF I MAY ADD!...do you see a pattern here...how did they know? hee hee)


The same day i received my Valentine cone swap items from SAMMY !

An old married couple no sooner hit the pillows
when the old man passes gas and says, "Seven Points."


His wife rolls over and says, "What in the world was that?"

The old man replied, "It's fart football."


A few minutes later his wife lets one go and says "Touchdown, tie score."


After about five minutes the old man lets another one go and says,

”Aha. I'm ahead 14 to 7."


Not to be outdone the wife rips out another one and says,

"Touchdown, tie score."


Five seconds go by and she lets out a little squeaker and says,

"Field goal, I lead 17 to 14." Now the pressure is on the old man.


He refuses to get beaten by a woman, so he strains real hard.
Since defeat is totally unacceptable, he gives it everything he's got, and
accidentally poops in the bed.


The wife says, "What the heck was that?"


The old man says, "Half time, switch sides."
